Any definitive proof or studies that show 'Date published' and 'Date modified' help SEO?

We have never displayed published or modified dates, and our source meta has it omitted.

I'm wondering if this is hurting our SEO which has dropped recently.

Has anyone read a study or seen proof that it affects SEO?
