If I buy competitor site can I use his blog articles on my site? Is it considered duplicate content? Do I have rights to articles if I buy site?

If I buy a competitor website, can I use his articles on my site and then just 301 redirect his domain?

Will that be considered as duplicate content in the eyes of Google despite that site is no longer online?
