Hey there - this is my first post on this sub and I'm an amateur in regards to SEO.. so please dont be nice. I took on the responsibility to migrate my family business's ecommerce store from xcart to bigcommerce and I wanted to adhere to some good practices in terms of SEO and maintaining whatever little traffic and engagement I have right now.
Basically, the old store is a melting pot of overused keywords with no structure and defined brand. The previous manager of the store gave up because he "simply does not have a solution". I dont think thats true and decided to take matters into my own hands. I have successfully migrated the products and photos, however, I'm stuck with how to re-frame the descriptions, categories and URLs. Do I follow the same structure as the old store? What ranking issues will I run into?
I'd love to link the website here but I'm not sure if thats allowed. If need be, I could PM it. I have about 2 weeks left with the old hosting company so I'd like to really get some insight as to how I can move forward!
