Hi all! I have commonly seen this issue and was wondering if anyone had advice.
Problem: Both the www and non-www (primary) versions of a website are indexed by Google, Bing, etc. This results in duplicate content and the site is "hidden" from search results.
Fixes:
- 301 redirect added to .htaccess file pointing to the non-www site.
- Non-www canonicals designated for each page/post
- Ensure internal links all point to non-www site
- Recrawl request via Search Console
Any other recommendations? Bing seems to totally penalize/remove duplicate pages and won't show them again despite recrawl attempts. Google is better, but the pages seem to have taken a massive hit in rankings. Thanks!
