One of my clients has WordPress website using KingComposer theme. On top of that it is image heavy. This website theme uses a lot of JavaScript which has resulted in extremely slow loading speed i.e. around 15-20seconds. I tried image compression but no visible results were seen. The major reason behind slow speed is the WordPress heavy JS using theme itself.
I have therefore decided to suggest client to wrap up WordPress site and move to custom-built website.
There is also a minor problem with existing website structure, for example, the blog pages should have URL as : domain_name/blog/blog_post_title. However, the existing URL structure is domain_name/blog_post_title.
I am therefore thinking of changing the URL structure as well. But, while doing so, the domain name need to stay the same.
My question is, we have published around 20 blog posts so far and has monthly traffic of around 500-1k(which is its highest so far). Should we move to new custom-built website with same domain name? How will it affect SEO rankings ? Will it bring website traffic to zero ? How much time will it need to regain it's lost traffic(if any) ?
