Most industries have associations where they have a membership and they list all their members with their links on their website. For example if I was in the fresh produce industry - unitedfresh.org is on of the industry associations where you can purchase membership.
These memberships are not cheap at all but they are highly relevant, respected websites where typically a backlink from would be great. However it is clear to anyone (and google) that you need to pay for a membership to get your company and website listed.
How does google look at these links? Is there any benefit to being listed in these directories for SEO?
