SEMrush - Gain 13 000 backlinks in 5 months from only one website but 8 000 are lost. What is happening?

Hello,
I have to make an audit for a non-profit and they have launched a new version of their website in April and since they have a crazy amount of backlinks coming mainly from one other website, 13 0000 since April. The problem is, today 8 000 backlinks are lost when I try to analyze with SEMrush.

Do you have any idea how to explain this amount of dead links and also this number of new backlinks ?

March: +371 new // -4 lost
April: +3 676 new // -2 044 lost
May: +3 108 new // -1 755 lost
June: +2 939 new // -2 715 lost
July: +2 482 new // -1 728 lost
August: +371 new // -4 lost
