Top ranking posts for my keyword only have 100 words. Should I go for a long or short post to beat them?

Hi there,

I am trying to rank for the keyword 'Neo-traditional tattoo' in the Netherlands.

The websites that rank 1, 2 and 3 in the SERP only have 100 words written in my native language about this topic (and have a poor backlink profile). An international competitor ranks number 4, and has an extensive 1200 word article, but this is written in English.

I want to write a blog to rank for this keyword, but I don't know how I should interpret my findings on the SERP.

Should I write a short 200-word blog, because the websites ranking 1-3 are also short? Or are these blogs clearly ranking because there is a lack of better content, and should I write an extensive article in my native language to beat these other blogs?
