I was recently doing competitor research (furniture industry) and found that a brand got a lot of backlinks from different sources.
One backlink grabbed my attention because it was super weird. The anchor text (that has the link to my competitor) was "Articles of Economic 2018". I was totally shocked.
Is it even fair to get this 'spammy' backlink?
And does Google recognize these kind of backlinks? If yes, what could be consequences?
Any thoughts?
