Perhaps it's just this niche, but I feel like it's a total coin flip trying to get to the #1 spot for desired searches in the local pack.
Half of the businesses listed don't optimise their listing. They have none or a very few, shitty photos, some have 0-1 review, no COVID attributes, no appointment links, no questions or answers, no products/services, their business address includes areas they service, and their business name is stuffed with keywords which Google seemingly choose to ignore these days.
Maybe I'm stuck in the stone age and local pack SEO has evolved beyond GMB being a major ranking signal and instead relies heavily on link and on-page signals now.
Any have any advice for me?
