Question on long tail keywords and Ubersuggest

Hey everyone! I am still a newbie to SEO and keyword research and I wanted to ask about a couple things from you:

Sometimes when I enter a long tail keyword in Google, the SERPs consist of high authority websites which are not directly optimised for that specific keyword. Is it worth going for that keyword if I write an article optimised for that keyword only?

Secondly, I know the data in Ubersuggest is not very accurate, but is there any correlation to the search volume shown there to the actual searches. For example, if Ubersuggest shows 100 search volume for a keyword, can I approximate the actual volume (possibly much larger than 100)?
