Index a website before on-site seo is finished?

Hey guys,

I have recently updated our company's website, and have nonindexed it until I finish on-site seo. However, it is taking longer than expected, so I'm wondering if it makes sense to index it, and take my time to finish on-site? Or should i firdt finish on-site and index it afterwards?
