Hi all, long time lurker, first time poster.
I am starting to analyze my backlinks through Google Search Console and have found that GSC is showing my front page is linked to over 1000 times by a blog who has placed a link to our homepage in their footer. After doing some reading, it appears that google might see this as spammy. I am wondering what your opinions are on whether these links are risky or not? If the links are risky, should I ask them to make the links nofollow, or just request that they remove the link from their footer completely?
Some additional info:
- The rel attribute of the links are "acquaintance met neighbor" which I am not really familiar with.
- Looking back through analytics for the past year, my site has had only 2 site visits from these links.
- The blog and associated website is about a popular tourist destination that is relevant to some of the products my site sells and promotes (I am in the travel industry).
