I'm not really blaming anyone except myself, but would like to put out a quick warning to others with small business here - don't hire from this sub.
I came across someone that made a post here recently saying basically AMA anything about seo. It was upvoted, others were saying wow this guy knows his stuff, and all his replies seemed knowledgable.
$1200 later he's dropped off without contact for a few weeks, but I believe he is still active here.
His initial email stated that he will work on alt tags for images, image naming, and a few other things.
I replied that all my images are quite well named in such and such format, and with a plugin taking care of alt tags - and what improvments he can make on those?
His backlink analysis consisted of one competitor that is not even in my country.
My business is doing very well, and it's not much of a loss to me - but could be very brutal to someone smaller that's trying to get things moving. That is the main point of this post - be careful who you give money to on Reddit.
I can name and shame if I'm allowed to, but will wait on someone to let me know if I'm able to here.
