Hi there,
Hope it's okay to drop this here since I've been trying to Google around the issue and I'm not really getting the kind of information I was hoping for. As part of my current job I manage the wordpress-based blogsite used by the company to post articles. Every now and then I will be asked to upload a sponsored post which will always include at least one backlink, and will often be sent by a @gmail user with the articles being poorly written and unrelated to the kind of content we usually upload.
We've had our site compromised twice in the past six months which I'm positive is related to these kind of articles (an admin account was used to create categories and post more of this spam), yet they're still being accepted and passed down to me to post.
From what I've gathered these articles are based around gaming Google to piggyback on our sites ranking, and links from sponsored posts should be marked as such or listed as No Follow. Has anybody had experience with these kind of 'guest post' requests? If so, could somebody explain the key points of what they're doing and the effect it will have on our site? I feel if I understand better I'll have a better chance of arguing against them being accepted.
