Let me start off by saying, I hope I'm not repeating or overlapping anyone else's posts.
I am trying to grow the customer base and specialize my family's small manufacturing company. I don't want to go into specifics on the product I want to push, but basically nationwide, only a handful of companies are pushing this product online.
Before I was involved with the company, my dad paid good money for a professional to build, and now host a legit website. It looks good, and I now handle all of the content.
When I started out, my main focus was cleaning up the existing content to more accurately portray what we do, and pump out blog posts showcasing each product we sent out.
Initially, results were great. I quickly (within 3 months) had us showing up in the top ten nationwide on some high traffic relevant keywords. I continued with the same strategy, and watched my rankings slide. This has all occured between 2018 and today (6/2020)
My site is lacking in backlinks, and all I really do is blogposts. I do not have much of a budget to work with, and just use the free version of SEMrush. I used the ahrefs trial a while back and learned a lot, but just can not afford to use it especially without knowing I will have results.
Every post I look over, either seems to be outdated, or does not really apply to what I am trying to do.
tldr: I run my small family company's website. I want better rankings in a fairly low competition industry in terms of web presence. All I do is blog post, and I don't have many backlinks. I had success at first, but rankings have slid over the last year or two. What should I emphasize working on?
