Ah, the bane of my existence. So our brand is 8 years old, and about two years ago a competitor came into the same industry who shamelessly ripped off our name (except changed the ‘I’ to ‘We’. Ever since they’ve been ranking higher than us and in some case we are out rightly substituted for them even when someone is looking specifically for us. Google displays their Instagram page and map listing for our brand name!
Here’s what we’ve built vs them - A website established for over 7 years with SEO optimised content and blog. They have no website, although they’ve parked their domain. - A popular Social Media presence on Instagram and Facebook (more followers and reviews than them). Recently we’ve also populated our Pinterest (they have none). - A verified GMB profile with 29 five star reviews (more reviews than them)
We’ve also reached out to Google contesting that our brand name searches is benefitting them since to the consumer it’s easy for them to get confused between two similar names in the same industry. However, we haven’t had any positive effect on the matter.
I would be endlessly grateful if someone has some recommendations on how I can turn this wheel of fortune and what could one possibly do to link our brand name stronger to our various entities around the web. Thanks so much for stopping by!
