Ubersuggest accurate?

Hi I am relatively new to the entire SEO thing and I came across Ubersuggest from Neil Patel podcast.
I am not exactly using it for word traffic but I am using it for the traffic monitoring of my competitors and other similar websites to my own so that I myself can spot good websites to learn from.

Just wanna know if Ubersuggest is accurate for telling you it's traffic flow.

Does TLD get included for EMD?

For example with the new .dev domains, would game.dev be considered an EMD for the search game dev?

I've heard that TLD doesn't matter for SEO, so gamedev.com and gamedev.net would be the same, but does game.dev count as an EMD?

I'd assume no or there's no information about it, but I figured I'd ask just in case.

Do you always make sure there are keywords to rank for when writing content? Or do you ever just go for topic dominance regardless of search volume?

I ask because I’m struggling to find good topics that have good search volume for some prospects. Haven’t met with them yet to talk about their industry, and I’m trying to do some research to find content before meeting with them so I don’t look like a total flub.

One is an HR business.

I can find a couple topics like “hiring an employee”, creating an employee handbook, managing workplace conflict, and a couple others...

But that’s still not a whole lot of content. I was thinking of focusing in on a niche like “HR for the restaurant industry” and just dominating serps for that niche... but there’s not a whole lot of HR related searches specific to the restaurant industry, or any industry that I could find...

So... is it worth it to go after topics even if there isn’t a lot of search volume?

The other is an Insurance recruiting website, and I’m having the same problem. Do we just optimize a page for “sales jobs” and “insurance jobs in X city”? Or do we start blogging...

Does removing fake user profile pages reduce my ranking given they are 98% of my website pages?

I have a dilemma and would appreciate help from anyone here.

I have a website that is a forum with good traffic. I've started paying more attention to driving traffic to the website via organic search and am targeting particular keywords.

Unfortunately, my website has been under the attack of bots that keep signing up and creating user profiles on the website and include links to their websites in their profile descriptions. These users are not able to publish any content on the website except for creating a user profile page.

The dilemma I have is that while these user profile pages are not good, they also contain the standard innerlinks & meta descriptions I use on every page of the website to link to main page via hyperlinks for keywords I'm targeting.

Now I am looking at my site on ahrefs and can see that my UR and DR are low (less than 30). I have 40K pages, strong majority of which are these user profiles.

Should I purge all these fake user profile pages given they contain URL's to bad websites? or given they are being used for my innerlinking and promotion of my keywords, it's better to not touch them?

I'm worried that if my total number of pages drop from 40K to 1,000 all of a sudden, our SEO rankings significantly drop.

Any thoughts or feedback is greatly appreciated.

11k of 37k pages on our site "Crawled - currently not indexed" in Google Search Console

Howdy. I've been researching for over an hour why such a large number of our pages haven't been indexed and haven't found anything definitive so I'm looking for some expert insight.

For some background: This an ecommerce site and we launched a large number of products (about 4k) on the site about 20 days ago, so that is likely a portion of what is unindexed. I've looked for issues with duplicate content, page titles, and canonical tags without much semblance of a pattern to those 11k pages. There is very little competition for our products in search so I'm surprised they are in limbo.

From my research thus far the consensus seems to be that there is not much I can do except wait until Google decides to add them to their index.

From your experience are there other things I should investigate or just wait it out?

SquareSpace has a potentially major indexing issue.

sqaurespace is forcing 2 duplicate copies of a page to exist, one with a trailing / at the end of the address bar, and one without.

When you make a page on your site using Sqaurespace, it is made without any trailing / in the URL. But then Sqaurespace forces a duplicate page, that has a trailing /, to be considered canonical in Googles Search Console!

So all your pages you made on Sqaurespace, are not considered canonical! Instead a duplicate page with a trailing / that you didn't even know existed is pushed up, Resulting in very odd indexing behavior in Google Search Console!

You check your URL, and it is not indexed, only to find out a duplicate page with a trailing / is the one indexed. (but only most of them time, not always)

There is no consistency, it is very odd, and i am very concerned about this! (Even the internal linking Sqaurespace uses does not use a trailing /, and yet Sqaurespace still forces a trailing / duplicate page and designates it as canonical!

Google cant make sense of it. Most pages that are indexed have a trailing /, but some don't. Your forced to have to work through this, and i am concerned this could effect SEO, crawl limits, link citation flow, indexing, and rankings!

(And no i do not believe you can make a page with a trailing /, it is just automatic, or maybe just in the site map though the page exists as well in both forms.)

Can someone give a second opinion on this?

Id rather here what some people have to say here, then whatever sqaurespace claims, what is your opinion on this situation?

Has anyone else had an issue with validating fixes regarding product id? I am using sku for my product id, it validates fine using google's structured data testing tool, but when I validate fix in GSC it says the problem still exists, even though it recognises the sku under URL inspection.

Pretty frustrating, just wondering if anyone else has had this come up recently as the new GSC adds more features.

Recommendation on SEO tool for multiple sites on a single domain

I'm currently getting set up using Brightedge as a SEO tool for a corporate domain with multiple WordPress sites. So far, even though it's the officially sanctioned service by the company, I'm not all that impressed with its functionality. I'm specifically wanting more help with back links, keyword suggestions, and most importantly, competitive analysis on a site to site (or blog to blog) basis, rather than domain to domain. Our other competitors also have quite a few separate sites per domain, so we're not apples to apples, more like bushels of fruit and baskets of vegetables.

Is there any guides/websites that compare all the other tools, besides Brightedge? I've used Moz before, and love using their MozBar. Also heard Ahrefs used a lot. Is there any recommendations for an affordable service for my situation--one domain, multiple sites?

Any easy, do-it-yourself backlink strategies?

Hey everyone. I've got a website that I'm trying to at least get on the radar of search engines. It's a new site, so it doesn't have much authority, nor do I as the writer. So at this point I just don't feel like I'm at the level where I can effectively reach out to others for backlinks, write guest posts, etc.

Is there anything I can do on my own, even if it's just "baby steps" that might give me even a small lift SEO-wise? Like websites where I can legitimately post a link to my content, that would be recognized by Google, and wouldn't be simply spamming?

I'm not looking to game the system for quick and easy results, just trying to find a few more small things that I can do that might help a little. Any advice is much appreciated!

How do I get started with this idea?

I have an idea of an information / product review type database website that I want to create. The website will have very large number of product pages. Each page will have photographs and various information about each product.

The pages will also have a taxonomy type system. For example if a certain product was featured in a film, it will have a clickable link of a film name. Then if the user clicks the film name it will take them to the page where a list will be shown of all the different products that were featured in that film. It will also have a name of the celebrity/actor who worn the said product and likewise will have a clickable link of their name.

I have found a website which is in a way similar to what I want to create which will probably be the best way to explain my goal. This website has a structure which is similar to what I want to create.

Here it is

jamesbondlifestyle.com

I will heavily rely on long tail keywords to start generating traffic and the fact that most keywords will be model numbers and names, therefore low competition.

Can someone please give me advice for kicking off this project? I am also specifically looking for which platform would be easier to do something like this on? I am really looking for a key-turn solution rather than something totally customized if at all possible. I know that perhaps Wordpress will be mentioned as the way to go, however if there are other alternatives I would really appreciate any advice.

Linkbuilding, The biggest lie ever?

So... I am terrible at SEO, Like Completely terrible. I understand what needs to be done but i have no idea how to implement it. Now, I've started to learn and i'm currently looking at link profiles for all of my competitors that have page 1 rankings.... and let me tell you that this "natural backlink profile" just looks like complete bullshit to me....

Every high authority backlink / pretty much every backlink my competitors have just looks like spam, Nothing looks natural about it at all, a lot of them look like they've paid to be listed there, some of them are directories, there isn't really any backlinks coming from websites that look remotely reputable.

Is this just the beauty industry? Or is anybody else finding this?

I'm personally scared to backlink after all this stuff i have read but now.... why am i worried?

One thing i can say is though, none of them seem to be blog comments.

The Best Way to Get Big Time Backlinks Is to "Create News" Or Through Interesting, Creative Content

Hey guys, some time ago I wrote a post about how I get high authority dofollow links and a lot of people thought it was beneficial. Figured I'd update everyone for what's been working in 2019.

So... here it goes... basically you have to "create news" or come up with informative or creative content that is high quality enough that others want to write about it. What I mean by that is as follows:

Create The News:

Look at the latest news headlines. What is trending? What big events are coming up? What are people talking about? Find how this info relates to your site or businesses and then create VISUAL content that you can pitch to journalists and online publications.

Here is a simple example... back in August, Starbucks released their pumpkin spice latte incredibly early... for some reason people love talking about this and it was immediately trending on social media. So, we simply mapped out geotagged twitter mentions and created a map showing who the top "Pumpkin Spice Latte States" were. This was for a food and cooking site I was working with.

We then used a simple, personalized cold-email pitch to journalists who wrote about similar topics, and the map was picked up by several large sites (who also included links to the food site I was working with).

Another good example, a research project, or data project with visualizations... journalists love these.

I was working with an auto client and at the time, Trump was thinking about increasing tariffs on several European cars and car parts... we crunched the numbers and figured out how much the price would increase on several top selling cars... we then visualized that info and pitched it to journalists.

Another example, for a men's grooming site, we looked at NFL Quarterback performance with and without bears, then visualized it and pitched it to sports sites. etc.

Or just get creative...

When Elon Musk Shot That Tesla Roadster into outer space, we commissioned a "retro" side scrolling space shooter video game to be made, starring the Tesla Roadster and the SpaceX Starman. This was embedabble and tons of sites picked it up. The game cost like $500 to make.

So again, the process is pretty simple and definitely not a secret... basically, you care looking to create high quality content based on current events or trends... content that relates in some way to your site or business. Once that content is created (often visual) you simply pitch that content to journalists who write about similar subjects.

9 times out of 10, if a journalists ends up taking the content, they include a big fat link in the article.

Using this strategy, I've gotten links in pretty much every big publication you can think of. Mashable, CNET, Esquire, LA Times, Sports Illustrated, etc. etc.

Create awesome content, and people will be happy to give you credit (in the form of links) to use it.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

is my SEO company pulling my leg?

Asked my SEO guy to start working on some new keyword rankings 9 days before the end of last month (22 of January). He said that he implemented the strategy right after our email - optimized the page, did a Google Post and created pages for the service in each of my directory listings(?).

I just received my SEO report for February and there is nothing on it with the keywords I asked about. I asked him why and he said forgot to add it to the report to be monitored by mistake. he also said that it takes at least 2 weeks for the data to propagate and once it shows he would send it. By my math, if he did what he said he did, we should already have 2 weeks of data. Maybe I'm wrong (I probably am), but shouldn't he be able to pull a report for the optimizations he said he did despite it not being on the list?

Advice for rebranding

Now while I know how to redirect them without loosing any links, my fear is that the new domain will drop like a rock in serps. The old domain has around 3k unique domains backlinks and decent trafic. Also the old domain is 13 years old while thr new one is 4-5 and wasn’t activrle very much.

Log analysis - Ecommerce

Hi. First excuse my English. I'm starting in the world of SEO and I read about log analysis. I quickly go to my ecommerce and downloaded (with help) the files for the past week. I see that my products profiles were being hit by the bots sensitively more than my pillar-pages (like for example "kitchen tables"). When I say profile I mean the url with the photo of the product, the price, descriptions, reviews from other costumer and all that things. And that makes me have some question:

1- It's normal for my products profile been hit sensitively more than my pillar pages?

2- If no, does exist any method to (try) to correct that? Maybe links for that profiles to my pillar pages

3- And, if it's normal, does mean that it's advisable to upgrade the content of that specificic profiles with fresh and optimize content? For better ranks and that things

4- What other handy information I can get from a log file? Beyond the status code and those things. I mean more advanced relation and correlation between the data

Thanks a lot guys. My English is a bit poor but I tried my best to explain my doubts, so excuse If it's a messy texts.

I start building local citations using a citation service (really not sure if this is related). Then I start dropping out of the top 100 for a couple KWs. The other KWs start dropping and over the course of the week I have zero KWs in the top 100.

Is there a way to request for a dofollow link? Our page does have low 20s in DA which is why I understand the no-follow link (the news website is high 80s). We need some of that link juice to get higher :( I've been cleaning up the website but we really need some juice.

Looking for a way to research listicles faster?

If I'm doing research for say....a "5 moments gamers pulled off amazing feats together" article for something, what are some tips on easily finding entries for it? Gawker websites like Gizmodo have good tagging systems, where you can click one article about cool gaming moments and find a tag called "WTF gamer moments" and find similar stuff. Are there other websites like that? Or possibly search engines that allow me to search by tags in a similar fashion?

If you have any other general research tips, please let me know

Hey can someone help me with this indexing issue. We have about 900 pages on the website but only about 90 pages are being indexed. The website is cliniquenouveaudepart.com

About 300 is not being indexed because of a crawl anomaly, and 300 are apparently not being indexed because of the noindex tag but I can't seem to find any noindex tag.

Website Menu Structure - Opinions please?

Okay hive mind, I need an opinion... famous last words.

I am restructuring our top level navigation - dangerous I know, but it can't be avoided.

My question is: If you had a keyword in your main menu that resulted in decent traffic to one of your top performing pages BUT you had to move the page further down in the hierarchy (it's a mega menu style nav) because it no longer accurately represented the category, what would you do?

I don't want to leave it as is because it might confuse/mislead users but I'm worried about the SEO impact from moving it away from a pretty prime position ( and yes I will 301 to the new url.)

Thoughts?

How to find what medicament and medicament related keywords are trending right now?

I was trying to use some tools but I have no sucess. What I'm trying to do is finding trending medicaments so I can write some content about it. For example, let's say that in February, there was a huge search increase of 300% for the medicine "cyclosporin" for some random reason. Ok, If I type this term on some tools, it will show me how much it was searched this month, but what if I want to find similar keywords (not keywords like "what is cyclosporin, which had an increase of 100% in this hypothetic case), but to see a totally different keyword that's also a medicine and had an increase of 500% (let's say minoxidil had an increase of 500%), for example. Those websites don't show me minoxidil, only similar searches for cyclospirin.

Looking for help with competitive analysis / research

I could use a look at the backlink profiles for a few websites for someone I'm helping.

I'm looking for scoring (DA/PA, TF/CF, etc) and backlink info from Moz, Majestic, AhRefs and anything else that's relevant.

I don't have access to paid accounts with any of these tools at the moment.

Does anyone know of a reliable service out there that can provide this info? A package that would include some smart keyword research would be terrific.

I love this stuff but use the tools so rarely that I can't justify subscribing myself.

SEO title & meta description will not update on Wix.... Nothing I do seems to help?

I will start this post by saying I am in no way a professional. I have made a couple of websites for the company I work for, as well as websites for a few friends. I have built with Wix twice before, (other sites have been on a different platform) and I am completely stuck.

I have been helping a friend set up her SEO information for her Wix site. She updated all the titles and meta descriptions properly, and I went through the SEO Wiz to double check. I verified the site via Google Console, and checked for any crawl errors, to which there were none. I have updated the Fetch tool... Nothing. The same with the site map.

I understand that Google takes time to index sites, but it has never taken this long with any other builder that I have used.

With all this being said, I have followed nearly every Wix to Google SEO tutorial on Wix’s support site. None of them have done anything.

Is there something I am missing? Is this more of a Wix issue than a Google issue?

Thank you for your help!!

How Does Google Pick What Businesses to Showcase on Google Maps and It's Icons?

A client had an interesting question that I can't seem to find any info on. When looking at their location on Google Maps, they have the basic marker. Area businesses nearby have custom "category" markers (restaurant, hotel, etc).

How does Google decide which nearby establishments to show up on the map? Do they only show certain "categories" of suggested businesses? Is there a way to replace the "default" marker on maps and more importantly, is there a way to optimize this so your business becomes a "suggested" business, outside of normal local SEO best practices?

Is it good or bad to de-index too many low quality pages (for the overall visibility)?

Hey There,

so lately I've been arguing with my colleagues about, if it is good or bad to de-index too many thin content or low quality pages.

Let say for instance, we've got a new customer with 100 sites. Now 40 pages are really low quality or thin content (100 words, one image, nothing special for the customer).

Now I say, lets de-index all these 40 pages and lets add some crawl budget to the other 60. He says, that all these 40 pages are still have content on it, which means they are driving traffic to the website. So it is good for the overall visibility

What is your opinion on this?

SEO Competition With High Authority Backlinks

I'm currently running a blog about internet privacy, technology news and cyber security. I'm starting to get a decent amount of organic search traffic from Google. One of the biggest barriers I'm having is that I'm competing with some really high authority domains.

So some of the websites that are most similar to mine have backlinks from the New York Times, The Guardian, TechCrunch, Wired, etc. I've been able to get some high authority backlinks for my site but not as powerful as those. I currently use ahrefs to find keyword opportunities but many are taken by these high authority sites. What is the best way to improve my organic traffic?

  • Should I target the same keywords and try to make my content better than these sites?
    • Will this be effective if I'll have less powerful links?
  • Should I focus on different/long-tail keywords that these sites don't target?

I am ranking for some of the same keywords as these sites, but would obviously like to improve my organic traffic.

Let me know if I need to give more information about my situation, my website, tools I'm using, etc.

International Sitemap Structure: canonical, hreflang & x-default

I work on an international e-commerce site which uses subdirectories/subfolders (www . domain . com/uk) to target localised users.

We use hreflang meta tags in page and individual subdirectory sitemaps to identify all other localised versions of pages with self-referencing canonicals. Subdirectory: /uk sitemap example below:

<loc>https:// www . domain . com/uk</loc>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="https:// www . domain . com/us" />
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr-fr" href="https:// www . domain . com/fr" />
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="de-ch" href="https:// www . domain . com/ch" />

I then use a sitemap index to list our individual sitemaps for each subdirectory. Is this best practice? I have seen certain sites suggesting that we shouldn't do this.

However if I have a single sitemap, instead of multiple with a sitemap index, then I would need to select a canonical to which all subdirectory versions link to. See example below:

<loc>https://www . domain . com</loc>
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-gb" href="https:// www . domain . com/uk" />
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="en-us" href="https:// www . domain . com/us" />
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="fr-fr" href="https:// www . domain . com/fr" />
<xhtml:link rel="alternate" hreflang="de-ch" href="https:// www . domain . com/ch" />

Although the above makes sense to me, our root domain pages are not accessible and from what I have read; each localised version of a page should have all hreflang links and a self-referencing canonical. If each localised page should have a self-referencing canonical then, in my opinion, there is no way to create only one sitemap as <loc> acts as a canonical indicator to crawlers. Therefore the sitemap would suggest that the canonical for www . domain . com/us is: www . domain . com and the meta tags in page would state the canonical is: www . domain . com/us . Not great SEO work.

All pages have auto-redirect rules based on user IP data, with a fall back set to the x-default (/uk*). Google also suggests not to use auto-redirects and I'm happy to remove them. I just need to know best practice for handling international site structure before I do.

Should I make the root domain versions of the pages (www . domain . com/example) accessible for users? If so should they be simply for x-default users or should I remove the /uk subdirectory?

Can you spare some change?

Hi guys! First of all I want to say thank you for checking my post.

I'm a returning Web developer who's been away from this industry for several years now, 4 years to be precise. Now that my career path has taken me back to Web development again I really just want to be quickly updated on the best SEO practice I can implement on my designs.

Currently, I'm working as a personal web developer for a businessman who has a website already. So going forward, if you know of any helpful online articles, YouTube videos and even personal tips about writing SEO friendly codes then that would be very much appreciated.

Basically, the 2 main things I want to know about are: - writing HTML/CSS etc that are SEO friendly. - ways to maximise a business potential, or even boosting page 1 on Google (e.g. social media, google reviews etc)

Oh, and the website is built on WordPress so if you know of any good SEO tips I can implement on his website then that'd be cool too!

I apologise if I'm not very clear, hence the reason why I went here to get some tips and help from the experts.

Thanks again for your time and help!

Site structure woes - Dealing with 195 countries and having one page per country

Long time lurker, first-time poster!! I've got a conundrum that I can't quite make a decision on...

I am going to create a website that contains country-specific information, so that when you search Google 'keyword +country' you find a resource that summarises the facts of my service niche, for that country you searched.

Currently, all this information is available on competitor websites, but not on a by country basis. You might have to click around different websites and compare/piece together information across multiple pages in order to draw your own conclusions, whereas my resource will show the facts and recommend the best service for travellers to that specific country.

My question - What would be the best way to structure all of this to ensure that it's both Google and customer friendly? I know there's potential value in summarising this information in a new way, as I've struggled first hand through multiple pages of the competition and can see a need for simplification and telling people the solutions (instead of taking up to an hour working it out for themselves!).

I'm currently thinking that one page per country would be acceptable in this situation. I would not be duplicating information, as each country has its own service offerings to consider. I would obviously struggle with the volume of copy required.

However, I'm not so sure how to build a category structure. Should I breadcrumb in some world regions, or just have all 200 countries in one category?

Thanks!

Focus keyword for a single-pager (using Yoast)

Hello! This is a real beginner question I've been wondering:

- Let's assume I have a business and domain whose name is Fastline and it provides logistics services.

- Recently built brand new one-pager website

- The business has been around for years and ranks #1 when searched with "fastline"

- Google Search Console shows 3000 impressions with the query "fastline", and 2000 clicks (average position 2)

- GSC shows 1000 impressions with query "logistics" and 1 click (average position 80)

Given that the page ranks well when searched by the business name, do I want to set the focus keyword simply as "logistics" and edit site content to use that keyword in headings and other text more? If I had two pages (one explaining about the business, second for explaining about logistics), I believe I would simply set the front page to rank for "fastline" and the second page as "logistics".... Thanks for your input! Just learning this stuff...

Will changing some coding/copy on my product page affect SEO?

I have a product in a small niche (1,000 searches/month for my keyword) that's on the first page of Google.

I want to change some of the copy and content on the product page. I will leave the title, meta, and url, and everything else the same. I just want to change the copy.

When I went to change the copy, I had some issues with the format, so I'll have to change the coding a bit to get it right. In the end, the design and information will be pretty much the same, just with some new information added here and there.

I created a test page to see how it'll all look and to make sure it's all ok. My plan is to copy and paste the coding of the description into the current page.

What concerns me is the first heading of the description will be an h2 class, when the current page that's ranking has an h1 style. My current product page has no h2 and the h1 is of course the product title. SO if i'm not mistaken, this is a good change, but since I'm ranking so well, I don't really need it to improve in this sense.

So, will these small changes affect my ranking? Will it be ok to just copy and paste the code from the test page to the current page?

BTW use Shopify. Thanks for any suggestions

How is Artificial Intelligence (AI) changing SEO?

The AI and SEO revolution is upon us, with no signs of slowing down anytime soon. It seemed like yesterday when things like automated social media posts, blog content, and chatbots were something laughable.

However, future predictions of these algorithms have accelerated almost to the point of reaching human logic, making marketers both excited and scared.

How will AI change the future of SEO.

  1. Less Black Hat SEO Techniques
    - End Keyword Stuffing
    - Identifying and Filtering Spam
  2. Real Time Data is Going to Be Huge
    - Real Time Price Changes
    - Smart Customer Service
  3. Content Optimization For Voice Search
    - Conversational keyword optimization for voice based search
  4. Images and Video Intelligence
    - Create video with optimization in mind
  5. All About Value and User Experience
    - Create models based on user preferences, and develop more personalized applications.

AI will simply transform industries into something completely different much like advancement in tech that has always been done.

So WIX rolled out today there Turbo platform. Claiming that all sites are faster now. Anyone notice any changes to site speed?

I need to investigate further before I can make any comments but I will say it is good the company is addressing one of there main issues currently. That being a slow platform.

Conversions have been awful since the new year. Traffic has been down too.

My SEO colleagues say the US market has been suffering lately and that’s most likely the reason. Was wondering if anyone else noticed.

Should I submit a sitemap for every single "version" (https, http, www, etc.) of my site in Google Search Console?

Do I need to do this or is it okay if I just have the sitemap under the https version?

Best tool to keep track of seo efforts for single site?

So what would be the best tool to track my seo efforts? Lowest cost? Backlinks etc? I just switched from wix to wordpress. Still doing optimizations and building, but would like to keep track of progress.

My original wix site was built in sept 2018, I rebuilt with wordpress about 2 weeks ago and kept same page urls to keep from loosing whatever little seo juice I had already earned(not much).

Side note: how can I tell how often google is crawling my site? I have all the google tools.. My biggest hurdle has been getting backlinks 🤦🏽‍♂️

my site Marvelouz teknology

GIFs and SEO

For a long-form 3000+ word guide, I wanted to throw GIFs into the mix to help break up the wall of content for each section and add some humor. Is the only negative effect going to be slower page load or are there more technical factors that would prompt me to stick with only static images?

SEO problem

Hello.

I have a website about movies. And my post rank well, not great, but ok. Just for example, my page is in Croatian, but I will tell you in English just to explain.

I have post best movies 2018. Which is in Croatian first at best movies 2018, at movies 2018, and was 3rd at movies, only in Croatian language.

But what my problem is, we are in 2019, and my post from 2018 is getting less and less visits. I have a new post best upcoming 2019 movies, mostly in same places as was 2018 edition.

Here is my problem, for some reason, my pages are not ranking well, very bad. Not sure if I can find them in first ten Google pages. I don't know how to fix that, so I have every year same problem, I depend on my posts. I would rather like to have m pages ranked well, then my posts.

I need help, can someone tell me what am I doing wrong and suggest me how to rank pages better.

Thank you

SEO Tracking for e-commerce site recommendations?

Hi all,

I am working on putting together a spreadsheet/report for an e-commerce site and was wondering what type of metrics you recommend me tracking using Google Analytics. I currently already have Revenue, Organic Pageviews, Users, New Users, Pages / Session, Avg. Time on Page, Bounce Rate and was wondering if you guys could recommend any more metrics? The e-commerce site wants me to track a lot of metrics. Thanks!

What is your greatest SEO success story?

All of you SEO professionals out there, I'm curious to know what your greatest claim to fame is. I'll start. My firm helped the largest auto repair and tire dealer in Los Angeles increase sales buy $800,000 in one year. Just last month, they received 300 more phone calls than the previous month. And we did it almost exclusively with citation building and consistency.

International SEO query

Hello

One of our clients (based in the UK) also operates in the Australia and the USA. Each country branch operates slightly separately and each have their own website. We're currently facing competition issues with the UK and the Australian domain, the UK domain is .co.uk but the Australian is .com (the US is .us.com).

What would be the best way to move forward to ensure that the Australian traffic is focused only in Australia and avoid overlap? I was thinking to suggest changing the Australian domain to .com.au and for them to focus their content more around Australia. As well as ensuring the local SEO optimisations are there and up-to-scratch.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

Adding city name to business profile? Along with some keywords?

I’m trying to rank in the local 3 pack.... I’ve noticed people putting the business name followed by something like- AAA Car Lot- a Car sales company, Car Salesmen in Gasper Florida- I assume they are doing this for a reason... does it help?

A long ramble, but I could really use career advice.

Hi /r/SEO,

This is going to be a bit of a ramble so I apologize in advance. TL;DR at the bottom.

I've been working on SEO for a few years now. I work primarily with small business owners and I'm almost at my wits end.

My very first client who I've worked with for 5 years now, grew from 5k visitors a month to a peak of 150k visitors in a single month. Granted, this client provides a local product/service so while she likes the traffic and inquiries from people out of the area, overall, the traffic is just nice because it results in more newsletter subscribers so that we can improve our ad targeting.

The point is, she's great and it made me think I could work with other small business owners even if they could only pay $400 - $500 / month.

It turns out, they either can't or won't pay even that much.

I have yet to find a single small business owner who had the budget or work ethic of that first client. I would give this client content ideas, keywords to use, etc. and she would follow through. The rest? I've tried everything. I've asked them to just record themselves talking so that I can create an article and they'll say that it's a great idea but then NEVER do it. I literally just talked with a client with whom I suggested this to 2 years ago and we basically had the same conversation we did back then.

I also CONSTANTLY hear excuses about how they have so little money because of all the money they just spent publishing their book, or because they don't get enough business, or because they're renovating a bathroom. I'm tired of hearing all of these excuses from clients who "can't believe" SEO services cost a whopping $300 a month.

So they'll go to Fiverr and pay $10 for 100k of "totally real organic visitors" without telling me. Then, I'll notice thousands of site visitors with 0 time on page and 100% bounce rate, ask them about it, and they'll insist it's legit because they had 5-stars and Fiverr vets these people.

I thought things would turn around when I got hired as a freelancer by a moderate size agency. The owner told me he was going to slowly introduce me to over a dozen of their small business clients, but the owner never really gave me direction because he was traveling so much. So, I figured I'd do what I do for any other of my first time clients. 1. Make sure Google Analytics and Search Console are installed 2. Make sure the robots.txt file wasn't blocking any crawlers 3. Plug their sites into an SEO tool and see what changes could be done (lack of headings, missing meta descriptions, missing image alt text, redirect chains, etc.).

I found myself explaining to his other staff the importance of GSC, or how to fix redirect chains. Only when they asked, I never emailed them out of the blue.

Despite the lack of direction I felt like I was getting the ball rolling. I'd found things that hadn't been addressed and the other staff members were now aware of this.

Then I got let go. I was given two reasons. 1. The owner was MIA too often with travel plans to get me up to speed on all the clients. 2. He wanted someone with more agency experience.

So, that was that.

I make about 2k a month now, 1/3 of which comes from my lone big client (they're a nonprofit though so they have budgetary restrictions) and I just can't do this indefinitely.

I've put in a lot of time studying this stuff but I honestly can't even tell if I'm any good at it anymore because I've had two "success" stories since I've started. My first client and the nonprofit.

I'm thinking maybe I should work for an agency for the additional experience, but the thought of entering that space sounds terrible to me.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, we can share our client stories. I once had a client ask me to make his already published tweet to his 12 followers go viral.

TL;DR: I've worked with small businesses the last 4 years and I've only been able to help my first client due to the rest having a budget that averages out to $250/month. I'm wondering if I'm any good, how I should go about getting larger clients, or if I should just apply to an agency and work full time.
