Optimize SEO on a landing page without login details to site..

Sooo.. is this normal? Have a project with a customer coming up- and called it a pilot-project. Deal is to only optimize ONE of their sites, in their website, they picked one.. it's a landing page for loan. now... I have to then write in word? Has anyone done anything similar? I don't have their login details, and they want new sites as well, my colleague is doing that.. so I have the task of SEO optimizing the content.. I was thinking only to write everything in word, but can I do that? Is it "normal"?

TL;DR can you optimize for SEO in a word-document?
