Google Rich Test Results and Structured Data Testing Tool showing different results

I've been working on putting structured data up for my company's website, and have noticed that the older, to be deprecated Structured Data Testing Tool is showing different results than the new Rich Test Results tool.

For instance, for a page I just updated, the Structured Data results detects: WebPage, Professional Service, SiteNavigationElement, and FAQPage. The Rich Test Results detects FAQ and Local Business.

I understand that they might name them a bit differently (formal "FAQPage" vs. cleaner "FAQ") and that part doesn't make any difference, but why does the RTT page not detect all the same schema information that the SDTT shows?

And on a slightly related note, is there "too" much schema for a page? I've been operating under the assumption that if I answer a question or on the page, I should use FAQ to have that detected, even if it's not a formal FAQ page. That gives me some pages with three or four sets of structured data, which makes sense and is highlighting the information on the page, but should I focus on just a single data type instead?
