In what situation the website is suitable to do the Silo structure?

Let say I have a website about survival, and there got categories like Guide, Survival Kits, Ebook.

Which url are better
mydomaindotcom/guide/cooking-forest-guide
or
mydomaindotcom/cooking-forest-guide ?

I know the shorter, clean and tidy url the better.

But url with hierarchy also good for SEO.

So what do you think?
