Am I Being Taken For A Ride?

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the best place for this post but here goes...

I paid a lot of money (for me - £1200 a month) on SEO which inevitably got me to the #1 spot for our most searched for term, which was great, the phone didn't stop rining.

Our contract came to an end and we ended up switching to the company that created our website a few years back who said they could do the same SEO for considerably less (£200 a month).

Since switching, we've dropped from 1st to 2nd and now we're 3rd.

I've also asked them to work on some other search terms but we haven't moved position in months and when I asked what's being done behind the scenes, I got some very generic answers that I wasn't convinced by.

What I'd like to know is - am I just overthinking the situation, and it's natural for sites to rise and fall in the rankings?

Or is there an online tool i can use to see what (if anything) is being done behind the scenes ?
