I’ve tried doing some research on the subject but I’m getting conflicting opinions and answers. Also, haven’t seen an example scenario exactly like mine yet. So here it is.
I have a small niche website with a couple freelance content writers. These writers, and actually many people in my niche, have their own personal blogs. I do not allow them to post any of the content they write for me on their personal blogs, but they have approached me wondering if I wanted to put some of the content they wrote for their own blogs on my website.
This got me thinking of separating my website into a more free-form blog where approved bloggers in my niche can write about anything related to the niche with little to no oversight from me. Of course I wouldn’t pay them for this.
Then I would still have my paid content that would be specially chosen through keyword searches and competitor analysis, for my freelance writers.
Now if I did this, and people posted duplicate blog content from their own personal blogs onto my website. Would this negatively effect my rankings as a whole?
I’ve seen answers ranging from “definitely” to “not at all” to everything in between. So I guess I just want to hear what y’all have to say.
