Good morning all -
I was looking at acquiring a url that now may have some potential trademark issues. As a precaution, the company that I am looking to acquire the website content and url has a decent alternative url in the e-commerce field that I am pursuing.
They are telling me I can transfer all content to the new url and contact Google and not lose the 7 year history on the site in regards to search traffic. I am not putting any money upfront to acquire this site, but have a small % commission deal that the company would get from my sales.
If transferring the site to another url would screw up the "blue sky" SEO from the original site, I am guessing that I would not want to be paying commission to this company anymore and would likely start from scratch with some url's I have parked.
Any suggestions would be appreciated - most of my site sales I would assume would be from adwords and youtube marketing and thus wondering if the past SEO benefits (ok but not great) are worth the deal.
