I see posts here occasionally about how to get into SEO, but any advice on how to get *out* of it? Are there any fields you're especially excited about that will continue grow in the future? I'm looking for something that could be an organic progression from here, and not totally oversaturated (yet). Is it AI, data visualization, data science, something else I've never considered?
A bit of backstory: I recently left a full time SEO position after 4 years. The job itself was great, but turned into a bureaucratic nightmare after a while and I fell out of love with it (office politics, bleh). Now that I'm looking for a new position, I'm finding it difficult to be as excited about the prospect of full time SEO again. I want to continue to learn, grow, and challenge myself in the way I felt when I first started my SEO role.
I really liked that SEO married science and art--data could only get you so far, the rest relied on creativity and interpretation (I'm not naturally a numbers person, but something about SEO just clicked for me.) I also loved that 4 years ago, SEO was still pretty niche and there was a lot of freedom and exploration afforded from that.
So (at the risk of sounding totally click-baity) what's the next *big thing*? I've got a couple of months before I *have* to be back at work, so I'm also open to recommended online courses/certifications to help progress as well.
Any tips or ideas would be helpful! Appreciate y'all!
