I can't wrap my head around keyword research

Hi, can anyone please help me wrap my head around the concept of short tail and long tail keyword in keyword research?

I'm doing keyword research for my future site and I hit a bit of a snag. I'm quite confused as to which keyword to choose. The short tail has high KD, volume, and CPC. On the other hand, my long tail keyword has nothing at all in semrush. No KD, volume, and CPC. Does this mean that Google doesn't like this keyword because no one or close to zero people are searching for it?

How about if there's a bit of data in there for the long tail keyword but it's too low. Say less than 100. Is it still worth it knowing that the short tail is very popular?

I'm sorry if my questions are all over the place. TIA!

Multi step form affect SEO

Hey,

I'm currently working on a software app that allows my users to embed multi step forms on the websites.

I got a question from a customer a couple days ago wondering about SEO and i have to admit i don't know much about it. I told him there is no impact but I want to be sure.

Does embedding forms hinder SEO in any way? are there options that I can include that will improve my customers SEO? Obviously my goal is to help increase their conversion rate but i don't want to hinder their traffic in any way.

Working remotely as an SEO in a different time zone?

Does anyone reading this work remotely as an SEO in a different time zone? Curious to hear some experiences and thoughts.

Of course, employers/clients prefer to have freelancers and employers in the same city/time zone - but curious to hear if anyone has any extreme time zone issues?

I'm GMT+8 and am flirting with jobs in the UK/EU hence the question - this would leave a small-ish window of meeting time where the time zones blend

Most surprising thing you learned about SEO in 2021?

The thing I learned last year about SEO that surprised me was how content still isn't king.

The Google algorithm favors unskilled writing. Those who know how to write will not experience the same success as those who are average writers at best.I find this to be frightening.

Would it would surpise you if this was intentional on behalf of the algorithm's designers? It's a good way to dumb people down and control them. Nothing scares the machine more than a great writer.

I purchased some competitive domain names, should I redirect or landing page?

I'm a wedding photographer/videographer and I have a website with my business name.

I recently acquired some generic domain domains that had lapsed like [countryname]weddingphotographer.com and [cityname]weddingphotographer.com

At the moment I have them on a 301 redirect to my business website.

From an SEO perspective, If I want to make good use of them, am I better off having a landing page on these domains that links (via button) to my brand website? Or am I better off keeping them as a redirect?

My idea for the landing page would be to make it a good looking landing page with some keywords and description that fits the domain name and then link to my brand website.
