Does Etsy Erank keyword average search, average click, and average CTR show data for countries other than US? (Canada)

I'm from Canada and have just gotten erank to find good longtail keywords, but I noticed that on average searches, average clicks, and average CTR only says (US). However, I only sell to Canada, is it possible at all to see these statistics for Canada?

Best way to strategically place backlinks?

I'm working on getting more guest posting done and since I'm only usually offered 2-3 links, how should I go about distributing them?

I have more of an information site, so should I be spreading the backlinks around or focusing them on one page in particular? I'd like to rank for many different keywords that have a good amount of volume, just difficult understanding where the links should be going.

Tips for lowering spam score?

I run a decent sized gaming website and was doing some research only to find out my site has a spam score of 11%! Upon further research, my competitors have a cool 1% spam score.

I have no idea why this is, as I’ve done nothing sketchy with my site to my knowledge. Is it just a matter of disavowing spammy links pointing to my site? Or is there more too it?

I assume this is hurting my ability to rank to some degree. So I’d love to clean it up ASAP. Appreciate all the advice!

Google disabled the URL Inspection Function

Guys what do you think about that. I talked to so many people and some of them saying Google disabled this function due to e-l-e-c-t-i-o-n-s etc what do you think? I feel like in some cases Google has to be regulated because of such things and many other things. Sure, Google say, they disabled it through some maintenance for a few weeks, but hey, they would never admit it right?

Facebook approached me via eMail recently because of my sites. These are small websites with max 1000 visitors per month. They have been asking what tools I use to interact with Facebook. I had only a few plugins that post automatically content to my site (btw my site is about pc hardware and it technologies - NOT about politics). I had really to explain what and how I use it etc.

Isn't that kinda ridiculous? I am from Germany, but in these times I feel like I am from China where everything must be controlled by the Government, etc.

I mean like Google was involved into the regime change in Syria. So what's gonna be next?

A duplicate page only no-index tag enough?

I have 4 different niche websites and all of these sites hosted on one VPS and use the same 3rd party services (Adsense, Google Analytics, Cloudflare) and don't use script base social sharing services like AddThis.

I use a single privacy policy statement and published it on all of my sites. This privacy policy statement created by myself not copied any privacy policy generator sites.

Then, I use the no-index tag to prevent search engine bots from crawling that privacy policy page. What is want to know is No-indexing is enough to prevent duplicate content issues? Or should I use the no-follow tag too?

Is it negatively affect my enter sites ranking?

Ubersuggest

Are Fiverr Traffic Gigs Bots?

Hey everyone.

I just paid a guy in Sri Lanka $7 through Fiverr to send traffic to my site. I knew going in that it would probably be junk traffic, but thought I'd give it a go. The traffic began today with the keywords I gave him but I'm pretty convinced that it's just bots as I see activity on pages that would require human interaction trackable on my end, but there's no interaction.

What do you think...are these gigs just bots? And how do they pull this off?

GSC not indexing my pages

All of the new pages that i have written are showing up in GSC as "Discovered - currently not indexed" and those pages have been published for over 2 months now.

I know it could be a whole bunch of things and you would need more information for an accurate assessment, but just wondering if there are any critical things to check?

I submitted my site map and checked robots.txt etc. - My goal/hope is that as I build links and continue to build out content/etc then Google will eventually give it a higher crawl priority.

Updated site, massive drop in ranking can I get it back?

Hi all,

Any help is appreciated.

My dad has had a Wordpress website for his self run company for 10 years now. It has sat around 1-5 ranking for the company name and product names for all of that time.

Recently he asked me to change the theme and make some adjustment to make it mobile friendly and bring it into the 2020’s. I did so and was hesitant to release it without SEO consulting, but he pushed and released it last week.

Since then all the rankings have dropped day after day, now currently in the 30-50’s in Google search console.Obviously we need to stop the bleeding, is me reverting the site back to the old set up/backup restore going to help at all? I was thinking this could be a quick fix, and to consult an SEO person to fix the updated version in staging before re-releasing it again.

Thanks for any help.

Now that Google SearchBot indexing requests are disabled, how do I make my react app show up on search?

I've been trying to get my react app to show up on Google for a week now and although I have improved SEO dramatically and tried the "fetch as Google" (Live test) feature, where my web app and all its sub-urls show perfectly, it is not being indexed.

Google does not provide a reason other than "This page is not in the index, but not because of an error. See the details below to learn why it wasn't indexed."

I feel like the only thing holding my website back from being indexed on google is that they removed the indexing requests feature, if I could do that manually it would show up. Does anybody have suggestions?

Thank you so much in advance.

Doing SEO? Keyword Research is never the first step!!

You must be amazed to hear this. Because till date, all the SEO analysts, with whom you ever worked or are planning to work with: the first thing that is just cooked up (or I don't know heated up to their mind) is to ask for the Seed Keywords, so that they can fetch those long lists of automated Keywords out of those paid tools like ahrefs, Moz, Semrush, etc.

But What If I say that Keyword Research is not the first step. In fact, it is NEVER the first step.

You choose KWs on the basis of where you stand. Where are you standing in the competitive landscape? I can't choose to rank for keyword ABC if I am already ranking on that. All my efforts would be lost if I do invest in the Keywords for which either the Competition is very high or if there is no competition at all (that means no traffic). So, what is that midline upon which these particular Keywords are to be chosen?

The start is yours, but the end Isn't

Remember! Starting your website or blog can be based on your idea/mind. But processing and ending it will go as per the market and requirements. If you sincerely want to grow, you have to research the Keywords according to what it is required in the market.

All this comes transparent with a healthy competitive analysis. A competitive analysis will give an insight into which Keywords have more potential or ranking and which Keywords are difficult to be ranked. Even then, you don't go for Keyword research but go for a content strategy. A content Strategy is crafted based on the Competitive analysis and gives a detailed plan about what to choose, how to choose and how to perform in certain parameters. The Game lies where?

The GAME lies in the values that you choose after having your Keyword Research. Low Competition, High CPC, High Volume etc; this typical sort of sorting doesn't matter now. Your filtration of Keywords must be based upon the parameters fetched from the Competitive Analysis. Perfect order:

So the order of steps is Competitive Analysis > Keyword Filteration > Strategy > Implementation. Give your remarks in the comment section. Also if you have any questions, you can ask in the comment section, without any hesitation.

Issue with duplicate meta descriptions across different localised pages

Working for an online ux education company and we have multiple copies of the one landing page for different key markets u.s.a ,uk, sweden, germany etc so they have local currency and prices and customised testimonials. Issue is the german and swedish etc. version of one landing page have duplicated meta descriptions (company wants all landing pages in english for the time being as they say it's the main language used by UX professionals regardless of country of origin). Should I just tweak the descriptions to include the countries to get a bit of local traffic on top of it or try to completely change up each one in case google sees it as still duplicated? There aren't too many of them so second option wouldn't be too much of an issue

Kinda stumped on what to do next...

I work for a company and usually do the product photos, logos, and copywriting (with seo in mind) and recently they've let me get into all aspects of SEO with their website. (It's a manufacture that sells direct to customers). I've refined the copywriting, started writing a blog with relevant content, fixed all errors search console has told me, and tried to improve anything I can think of. The website has gone from 360 organic users monthly to 1.5k in the 3 months I've been messing with it. I'm stumped on what to do next?

Also our load time on mobile is god awful , we have a word press site and it scored like 6 out of the 100 on lighthouse, I reached out to our developer and he said "that's just the way it is". Any recommendations there?

3 Link Building Strategies That Actually Work

Learn about three strategies for getting links that you can do even if you're not a digital marketing expert.

1. Guest Blogging - If you are in the B2B space, guest posting delivers solid, dependable returns over time.

2. Broken Link Building - If you don’t have unlimited time for creating fresh, unique, robust content, you may want to try your hand at the old-school tactic of broken link building.

3. Link Roundups - A link roundup is basically a collection of the very best resources on a topic that includes links to that resource. It’s a powerful way to network with authority voices in your industry.

If your existing link building strategy isn't working, try any one of the above link building strategies.

You will see the difference :)

Would you risk your rankings for a huge money?

Hypothetical question/scenario:

Let's say you've worked hard to build a great website with great content and user experience. Your users like your website and your rankings, and thereby traffic, is great and healthy.

Now you stumble across an opportunity to make huge amounts of revenue by placing intrusive ads on your site that will degrade your site's user experience, and quite likely result in a drop in rankings as a result.

However, say the revenue you could potentially earn was huge enough to be life-changing (say 5 or 6 figures a month, or some amount that would make a difference to you) and enough to offset whatever drop in rankings (and traffic) you would experience.

Would you take the opportunity to rake in the cash and deal with whatever the consequences were?

I'd simply like to create categories where people can post interesting discussions, questions and answers etc.

What FOSS tools/self-hosted solutions would be the best for this? Discourse? MyBB?

I only care about the best possible SEO, so SSR and good performance/defaults are a must. Any ideas?

DuckDuckGo indexes posts ranked in Bing and literally is copycatting Bing?

I saw rank drop in Bing. My ranking eventually dropped in DuckDuckGo as well? Why is that? Does DuckDuckGo follows Bing? I see it has literally ranked pages the same way Bing has.

Stock Pictures v No Pictures

I’ve been writing some long form content for my website. And I’m using a mixture of stick and original. The originals are mostly just screen shots with arrows.

I am using the stick pictures to basically break up the text. These are either the free ones from upslash or the common license ones on google. (Not sure if the google ones count as stock)

My question is am I better served not using the stock pictures at all or using them? I think that the stock pics still provide for a better UX, but I’ve been reading a lot about avoiding them.

Redirecting too many times

So I posted a blog post on a Facebook group I'm in and the admin of all people came back and said she couldn't get on the page because it is redirecting too many times. I told her it may be something on her end because I tried it on three computers at my house and all work fine. Then I told her to switch browsers, clear her cache, history etc. After quite a bit of back and forth and turning her "Cleaning Tips" group into an IT group I sent her an article on redirects. Haven't heard back yet but it should be on her end right? I feel like this chic is going to kick me out of her group because she can't get on to my post.

A single post ranking for multiple keywords?

Hi all,

Pretty self-explanatory, I have a current post that ranks first or a certain keyword. However, I also need to improve its ranking for a keyword that is fairly synonymous but is more competitive and we're only on the third page of Google for.

What would be your best suggestions?

How to stop JS backlink spam

Over the past week, ahrefs has informed me that my site has received a bunch of fake backlinks from weird old blogs hosted on blogspot.

This has yet to affect our results, but I'm afraid that it might in the future.

Obviously this is being done without my consent and I have never heard of this company before.

What should I do in this situation?

Why many sites start their articles with the useless "What is X?" question?

There's one thing that annoys me whenever I look for information online. It's when the article start with a "What is X?" question, even though it's not really needed.

Like, an article on diagnosing PC power supply starts with "What is Power Supply?". If I didn't know what power supply is, I wouldn't even have looked for posts on how to diagnosis it. They are quite many articles like these. This seems like a useless keyword stuffing or a way to make the article larger. As a reader, I tend to get annoyed & bounce off the site, since I wouldn't want to waste my time on something that seems so low-quality (even if the article is excellent). In my own sites, I don't add such questions unless the content introduce the reader to a new thing.

So, what do you think of that? Am I the only person who think that way? Or is there something I am missing?

How to Take Over Lost Traffic After Changing Web Hosting?

Last year. I switched hosting to Siteground from Godaddy, and almost lost 50% traffic on my website. It was my first website so I never expected such thing could happen on changing the hosting service. and now again I'm looking to change the hosting service provider as Siteground current plan is not needed as per my traffic requirements which is approx 15k/mo. Long-tail keywords with no search volume

Hi guys,

What do you do with long-tail keywords that have no search volume when you plug it into Ahrefs or SEMrush?

I work for a B2B company, and I am under pressure to produce long-tail keywords that have search volume.

So I go through Google autosuggest and Answer The Public to get some long-tail keywords. But when I plug that into SEMrush, I get zero search volume.

It's difficult to present a list of long-tail keywords with no search volume to my manager.

So how do you guys deal with long-tail keywords with no search volume in a narrow niche?

Thanks

hreflang for 99% duplicated content

What is the best usage of hreflang for content that is almost identical but contains local spelling changes. For example, English UK and English US with 's' swapped for 'z' and colour/color etc.

I understand that Google may not honour hreflang on duplicate content and could fold the signals together into one Google-assigned canonical URL. However we really want to serve users with a strong UX and ensure that they land on a page that contains content written with local language nuances included.

Should we move our blog from subdomain to subdirectory?

Our blog generates nearly 2/3 of traffic to our domain (~11,000 for blog vs ~6000 for our main store).

I've read a lot on this subject, but wanted your opinions. Blog is on WP and store is on Shopify.

My concern for moving the blog from its subdomain to the store's subdirectory are:

  1. The blog may be able to rank posts so highly at the moment because it focuses all SEO ranking power on posts. If we move the posts to the store, the posts will now be buried along with the 10000+ product pages on the store - they may fail to stand out. New blog posts will no longer be on the homepage of the store, for example.
  2. Shopify's blogging features suck, and SEO for blog content may be significantly be weaker than on WP. In fact, I'm not even sure if there can be a 1:1 transfer of WP blog articles to Shopify blog.

Someone wants to put a guest post with links on my site........ how should I handle it?

I hope this is the right sub to post this. If not just direct me where I should go.

Ok just a little FYI about me and my site ......

I've got a sports-related site that I've had for years mostly as a hobby of sorts. I've used pretty much just used Google Adsense and monetarily I make just enough to cover my costs.

Recently I've had someone inquire about placing a guest post with links on my site. It isn't the first time I've been asked and every other time when I inform them I don't sponsor gambling or on-line betting sites the conversation ends. But I made clear that the post must be in line with my site's content and the requirements and apparently they are ok with that.

So, just how do I go about handling it? I've allowed guest posts in the past but the never with a paid links, just a link back to the author's page. And I have allowed a paid link in the past but it has been several years since I've done it.

And there's a couple of things he's asked about that I'm not really up on. One is whether or not I will provide a "Do-follow" link. I know a little about Do Follow links but not much. Tell me, what difference does it make as far as my site is concerned? And what about the site I'm linking too? Since my site is sports related would a link to another "niche" hurt me? Cyrpto and VPN was specifically mentioned.

And he asked if I require a "Sponsored Tag". What is a Sponsored Tag? And how many links should I allow in the post?

Like I said, I'm really in the dark when it comes to monetizing my site and how it will effect my SEO efforts so any advice would be nice.

Oh one more thing, and again, if this isn't the right sub please tell me where I can ask - what is the proper rate I should charge for providing a link?

Newbie question: Can someone share with me some guides to get backlinks through guest-posting?

It's a-me, again, the birb website guy. So, the website I created four months ago is a desert. I could post CIA secrets that'd never get discovered there. I'm only starting to see my content appear somewhere in SERPs.

And I keep hearing the same thing, like a loop recording: "without backlinks, your content will silently crash and burn, regardless of its quality". That's why I finally decided to ignore the shameful experience of posting stupid questions here, and, well, here I am, asking for your help again.

How can I get backlinks in the Pet Niche? I want to try guest-posting, but I seriously don't know how to get started, nor have the tools to use something like the broken-link technique. Also, I'm broke, so I can only rely on my writing ability, if you can call it that.

I also have other questions, like:

  • How many articles should I post per month? I've only published about 10 articles so far, each of more than 3k words.
  • I'm not sure if should diversify my content format, like with Youtube vids, or Anchor podcasts. Would that be a good time investment? Someone here mentioned that social media was sort of a waste of time, and I don't wan't to put effort into that type of content if it's not going to work.
  • And how to actually measure the quality of my content? If it's measurable with visits, then it surely sucks.

Any help would be awesome.

Viable SEO outsource options? (for agency)

Hi there,

As I grow my SEO freelancing I am in need to outsource certain tasks.

However, when presented with options on fiverr - it's not easy to choose a person!

does anyone have any experience of where to start (or reccomendations) with outsourcing for your clients?

The basics like:

  • Keyword research (not just a SEMrush export!!)
  • Competitor Analysis (and growth opportunities)
  • Uncovering SEO tech problems
  • Putting together nice reports?

I like to think im good at SEO and I have a good track record behind me over the years,

I'm good at selling it and account managing. I have less passion for the doing these days (alongside a full time SEO job). So I need to reliably (and cost effectively) outsource it!

All suggestions welcome!

How to Start a SEO Business

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your incredible responses to a question I'd asked some time ago.

I'm wondering how to start an SEO Business or Digital Marketing Agency focused on SEO, and would love to hear your thoughts.

A bit of background about me:

I'm a full-time digital marketer and content writer, focusing mainly on SEO and Content Marketing. I work in-house for a company, but do projects on the side too. I have a Fiverr account, but actually land most of my clients through referrals and networks. I've worked on about 6 client projects now.

Just wondering if I should turn this into a legitimate side hustle and run my own business. Have anyone of you walked down this path before? How was your experience like? How would you recommend I go about starting my own SEO/Digital Marketing side hustle or small business? Would you recommend against it? If so, why?

Finally, I'm 21M. If this helps.

Again, would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

What to do with 6 MIL + pages

I’m in-house SEO working for a really old company that’s been around for decades and has lots of different facets to it.

There’s a real legacy issue with the website. Hundreds of people have had access and autonomy over the site, and there’s so much crap. They’ve also used the site as an intranet and - though they’re pretty hard to find - there’s notes from meetings, HR docs and so much more live on the site.

I’m running a crawl now, after I noticed I’ve got www pages linking to non www pages. So I need to get everything on the same domain. I can’t do that until I know the extent of the issue, historically I’ve not been able to crawl the full site just because of time restraints.

So I’ve always crawled specific subfolders and tackled deadweight in stages. Now I want to bite the bullet and do a full crawl because I want the full picture. But it’s onto 6 million pages now (and counting) excl. images obviously.

When this is done, how do I even go about exporting this? Surely excel and google sheets can’t handle that much data? Any advice around this would be amazing.

Thank you!

How do I know that I won't get scammed when I hire someone to do SEO for my website?

I know that SEO can take months to get results. But before that, what kind of progress should I ask every week or every month so I know that some kind of work is actually happening on my website? Both for on-page and off-page SEO.

I hired someone before and it turned out he was a scammer. He told me that it will take at least 6 months to see some progress. 1 month for on-page and 5 months for off-page. But even after 4 months, nothing was done on my website. I didn't even get 1 view.

Whenever I asked for some kind of progress, he told me that off-page SEO doesn't have any report but he's doing the work. He showed me things he did for the on-page tho.

I don't know what parts are true and what parts are not. As a professional SEO expert (or even someone new) what kind of progress do you show your client when you do on-page and off-page SEO? And how can I be sure that those things actually happened on my website?

I don't know how I'm ranking on 1st page of SERPs

I checked my website on Moz, Ahrefs for the domain authority and backlinks. I have no domain authority and backlinks.

But I am ranking for my business name near the bottom of the 1st page. Any advice on is this normal?

Link Relevance: What it is & Why it Matters for SEO?

☛ Why you should pay attention on relevancy instead of chasing links from high DA blogs that are irrelevant?

❝Link relevancy refers to how useful and topically similar to a website is when they link to your website. ❞

☛ When it comes to link building, relevance is everything — both for SEO value and for improving the success rate of your outreach.

Why Google is placing more importance on the relevance of your links:

☑ It helps Google get a better understanding of what your business is about, such as industry, products, and services.

☑ It helps prevent black hat link building from websites completely irrelevant to your site.

☑ Google can break down the relevance of a link from domain to domain, domain to page, page to page, and link to page.

If your link building campaign isn't providing the desired results, make sure you are targeting relevant links.

SEO for a very competitive niche

I'm working on a website in a competitive niche, it's a new site and both technical and on-page seo has been done really well for static pages which all rank >100 on the SERP according to ahrefs. Additionally, all blog posts that get written are also ranking >100. My question is, will blog posts alone be enough to pull pages up through the SERP or will backlinks be key here? Many thanks

91 organic users came to my site yesterday, only 2 of them stayed for more than 1 sec.

I can't understand what's happening. It is been going on for quite some days. The only reason I can think of is that my site speed is slow. The mobile (amp) version loads in around 8 seconds but still the desktop version loads in around 3 seconds. Do you think the site speed of my website can have these adverse affects on my site?

eCommerce question... to build out product page or create a landing page?

I'm wonder if anyone has experience doing both and whether one warranted better results?

I see eCommerce businesses either:

A) build out their product pages to be vary layered and informative

B) keep their product page simple, but then create 'landing pages' essentially, that are the more layered informative piece, that links to the product page.

Reason for asking, I just took on a new client, and none of their product pages rank well (at all) but most of their landing pages rank okay. I typically optimize my client's actual product pages, but this seems to be a functioning strategy as well.

Was there a recent algorithm update?

Just curious if there was a recent algorithm update. I have noticed two blogs come in an outrank two dominant websites on a pretty difficult keyword.

Has anyone else noticed any wonky updates?

Thanks

Google Core Update Recovery Time: How to recover from a Google Core Update? Do we need to wait for another such big update for fully recovering?

Hi, My site got hit in one of the earlier Google core updates (May 2020 as far as we analyzed or may be for some other reasons) and it still hasn't recovered the downfall. Do I need to wait for another core update to role out to see significant changes again?

We are a 4 years old site that had a good authority, but all of a sudden we lost the rich snippets place for many keywords. And, the strange part is fairly new competitors with just a handful of posts our now ranking in rich snippets. So, what are the possible reasons?

And, do we have to wait for another core update to fully recover and gain back our site traffic? Really worried! When can we see the traffic boost again? How long will it take to get back to normal?

Are there any specific strategies that we can follow to improve our situation. Thanks! And yes, is a new Google Update rolling out soon? Any idea on this.

Help me figure out canonical please

Here is an example of my browsable category tree:

Appliances (all articles on appliances)

Appliances -> Kitchen (all articles kitchen appliances)

Appliances -> Kitchen -> Blenders (all articles on blenders)

Appliances-> Laundry (all articles on laundry appliances)

Appliances -> Laundry -> Dryers (all articles on dryers)

As users browse through the trees and see links to each of the corresponding articles, there is some obvious overlap. In the main Appliances category a user will see all the articles.

So how exactly do I set up canonical on this? Also, if I don't care about ranking for the individual category pages, do I even need to setup canonical?

I have seen many websites have put a self-referential canonical on site. Is it a good way to canonicalize?

Keyword in domain name?

Hey we recently launched our store and we only have a few competitors. Most of our competitors are on Etsy, with all of them having an Etsy branded store with their brand name as the url.

We purchased the domain name of the actual product and it’s branded with our brand.

Does domain name play a role in SEO? I know I’m at a disadvantage in most niches by being on Shopify, but I’m the only one with a dedicated url and shop.

I’ve done most of the basic checklists on neilpatel and some other sites and am hitting 70-72 on mobile and 90-93 on desktop for google page speed insights. So im hoping that in a few months I should start ranking well.

Added SSL to my site and Google Search Console is only showing clicks to http site

As the title states, I added SSL to my site about a week and a half ago and my rankings dipped a bit. The puzzling thing is GSC is showing search clicks to my http site but none to my https site. Both properties are in the console and I have 301 redirects. Where are these http clicks coming from when that site doesn't really exist anymore?

How do I fix my rankings and get the clicks on the https site?
