Have a lot of client websites set up as subdomains to our corporate domain, not sure if that's hurting us.

Here's the deal. Prior to my time here, a decision was made to use our corporate domain name as a base domain(literally to save $12 a year) for client websites that needed integration with our product.

Today, after page 3 on Google, it's basically a list of our B2C portals that serve our business customers.

Since these have NOTHING to do with our product and serve zero purpose for our customers, I am assuming that these several hundred subdomains being indexed are at best not helping and at worse are watering down what Google thinks our website is, damaging our actual rankings.

Is my assessment correct?
