Article published on a developer community website, displayed by Google on the first page in less than one hour. How is this possible?

I'm a super newbie in this SEO fields, I must say from the beginning. How Google rank better a piece of information, confuses me, to be honest. The real use-case is the following:

- the original article, published on a personal blog is indexed by Google in 3/4 days and the link is visible in 3rd page.

- the light version, of the same article, published on a website with traffic, is listed on the first page in Google in less than 1 hour.

Google should score the quality of the information, right?
