Hi, SEOs of reddit! Something has been on my mind as of late. I work at a small firm that optimizes local pages. Our team lead mandated that homepages should list a primary marketing area which may or may not match the city in which the business is located.
For example, a business located in Gastonia, NC would have "Near Charlotte" or "Serving Charlotte" in the homepage title instead of Gastonia.
I've been wondering whether or not this is the best route. Certainly, I see the reasoning, but I also wonder if it's not a better call to place the actual location name and allow Google to recognize that the business is near that major area.
I'd love a bit of feedback on this. Anything is appreciated!
