I have a pretty good beginner understanding of SEO thus far.
However, I am having trouble understanding how these two things work regarding SEO.
1) Blog Posts - Let's say I do two blog posts every week about my industry (landscaping) or even about beaches. How exactly does this help with SEO? I've seen a local landscaping business who is ranked #1 for pretty much all major keywords, and even has a blog posts about "nude maid for landscaping"
How exactly does that and overall, just blogging help with your site? Does your overall site improves if your blog posts are getting clicks?
2) SEO - As I mentioned, I understand most basic SEO. However, what I don't understand is this. Let's say I serve NYC and Upstate NY. I know how to rank for towns in NYC & Upstate as I can easily make a landing page for each city "Lawn service Manhattan" or "Lawn service Upstate NY" do some on-page seo, and some backlinking; which worked. However, these searches yield very little results as traffic is low.
According to the research, the keywords with very high search volume are "Lawn Service" without city name.
Now, what really confuses me and I just can't seem to understand how this is done. How do you go about to even begin ranking for "Lawn Service"?
I assume in the US alone, the search is in the millions (idk) but this search is probably in the thousands state (my service state) wide.
So, my main question is; let's say I want my "manhattan" landing page to start ranking for lawn service, and the on page is optimized using the keywords "Lawn service" What would be my next step?
Thank you so much!
