Hi all. I have a client I designed a website and brand for. She's very happy with the outcome and the progress I've taken to complete my tasks. The site is still new and it needs to mature and grow via new content.
It is her task to put out her content (recipes, blog posts, misc posts) since it's a personal blog site. She's been in the process of moving across the country so I agreed to set up a drive and content template for her to input when she can and I'd be glad to upload it for her and edit any images that may need it. It's been about a month since she completed her move and we talk on the phone about once every two weeks to update each other. However, she has not given me any content to upload at all and she hasn't uploaded any content for herself.
This is my first client for SEO services, it was supposed to be just a branding design and strategy, and website design but she asked about SEO during the process and I explained it to her (I have SEO, PPC, and digital marketing coordination experience through my day job) and she asked if I could help out with that additionally and I obliged.
So now, it's been 4 months since the site is running, I've been checking on the site's analytics, taking notes for improvement and fixing any errors that occur on search console for her and letting her know during our phone calls or prior. Yet, she barely comes through with content, if any it is after our phone call and it's the equivalent of one blog post. When we started, she said this will be her first priority as she was excited to venture into this new endeavor, and I was too since it was a shared interest (cooking with family).
I've told her a few times in an encouraging way that we need content and content will drive the site with SEO in place but she doesn't seem to be motivated. Should I cut ties with her and finish off this month should I try to discuss with her the importance of her content in terms of the site's success once more?
We only call twice a month, used to be once a month but with the designs still in progress, we figured two calls might be easier. Is it my fault that I wasn't more stern about the content and the website slowly failing?
