Answer questions in one long pillar page vs many pages 2021

I'm not to SEO and working on my content strategy.

Right now I wrote a few 4000 word pillar pages which have several sections broken up with h2 and h3s.

How beneficial would it be to create pages with extra information on some of the sections?

Example:

Transport (Pillar page)

1. car

.....

more about cars (page with more info about cars)

2) train

......

more about trains (page with more info about trains)

3) bus

.......

more about busses (page with more info about busses)

I feel that the pillar page covers pretty much what I'd want to know as a user, but there is more content to write if the extra pages would be beneficial (I also feel I'd only be writing these pages for search engines and not for users). I'd really appreciate some input. I need to balance my time between a few tasks on this project so I'm trying to see where to focus my time.
