Keyword with a typo may not be the best option to rank for. But what about keywords with shortened words?

I'm not talking about abbreviations and such. More like in this example: "electric smth" being the widespread form, and "electro smth" still having decent search volume and low competiton.

Search engines don't correct it as a mistake ("Did you mean..."). But they do suggest other options ("also including results for electric smth")

Is it worth trying to use such keywords?
