For SEO/digital marketing agency owners: How deep should the SEO knowledge of your SEO Copywriter be?

First of all, congrats on building a business. Secondly, I am an SEO content writer. I applied for a job that required me to do a test on Test Gorilla (online assessment). The questions were about schema markup and other technical terms. So, should your SEO copywriter be aware of other SEO technicalities that may not be related to content marketing and email marketing? Other than keyword-targeting, backlinking, using headers, putting landmarks/city names on location pages, finding out the kind of content the competitors have posted and writing content better than theirs, is there anything else that I should study? Should I take an SEO online course like Nathan Gotch's, Brian Dean's, or Neil Patel's when I'm only interested in improving my SEO content writing?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.
