Algorithm update? HUGE traffic spike

Has there been some type of update in the last day? My site went crazy yesterday with quadruple the usual traffic, and today it has passed that before noon. My weekend traffic is usually dead, but overnight it just went crazy. I can't pinpoint it to a single post or page - it's sitewide.

I've checked analytics, my host, and cloudflare to make sure there's no attack, and as far as I can see, there's nothing out of the ordinary. But it's like someone flipped a switch and turned on a traffic faucet.

I have been working on SEO for a few months, and I have revamped my site so my site speed has improved, and I have been taking a pinterest course to try and get whatever traffic I can get from there. But none of that really explains how this would happen overnight.

I know there was talk of a March 1st update with the nofollow links, but I don't think that would be the cause.

Is there someone who might be able to offer some insight? I'm worried I am being attacked somehow, but even though it's a TON of traffic for me, it's not enough traffic that it would qualify as DDOS or anything. For reference, I usually get about 900 - 1100 pageviews a day with weekends being around 500-600. Yesterday I had 2800 and today, I've had 3100 so far.

Oh, and analytics says that there is a lot of direct traffic to my homepage.
