If I use Yoast free version, can I still rank for keywords outside those that I've used with my Yoast setup? How does it work, really, is what I want to know. Does Yoast communicated with Google? Or does it just highlight certain aspects of your site as guidance, with the ability to configure keywords manually on your own and use them throughout your site? I suspect it's the latter, but want to make sure.
New to SEO and really just looking for some basic guidance on this aspect.
