Get Listed in External Blogs and Websites

Hi,

I read some niche blogs recently and found that my product competitors were listed on those pages. Now I would like to be listed those pages to get backlinks to my website. Don't know how to approach them properly to get listed in their blog or website. I would appreciate if someone help on this.
