A brief about what SEO is all about

Before we start on the topic, I would like to share one thought. "Every action you take must serve a purpose."

So, for doing an SEO what you first require a website with an objective. An objective to sell something, to educate people, or to entertain people.

But merely creating a website is not enough, you need visitors to interact with your website. Right visitors at the right time is a must for the success of your website.

So how right visitors come to your website? When their intent to get something specific and your intent to give something specific matched they interact with your website. But, is just enough for bringing traffic to your website. There are a lot of other websites that are selling something specific which you sell but visitors come to your website if they noticed you or they find you.

Here, comes the role of SEO which we are going to discuss.

SEO means search engine optimization. Optimization simply means to make things better for a purpose. Now, what search engine is. It is a program where you search a website using a keyword and get the desired results based on the algorithms of that particular program of search engine.

So, what connects a website to a user? A keyword or set of keywords on which website is optimized to match with the intent of the user who is looking for them.

In the words of Lehman, the search engine is the mediator between the user and the website and optimizing a website both for user and search engine so that the right user land on your website.

But remember, the right user comes to your website when he noticed you or sees you. In the above paragraph, we are talking about indexing, and in this paragraph, we are talking about ranking.

So, SEO depends on three things:-

  1. How you present yourself - Content (OnPage SEO)
  2. What other say about you - Links and mentions on another website (OffPage SEO)
  3. How do Search engines look at you? - Technical SEO

Content is all about what is in your website and how it looks when it appears on a search engine in the form of meta tags, URLs, etc.

OffPage is all about creating links on other websites, it's just like getting votes from other sites.

Technical Seo is all about the security aspect and coding aspect of your website.

So, this is the very basic of SEO.

How SEO Works?

Suppose, I am a shoe seller and I wanted to sell shoes online to expand my business and to earn more money. I created a website so that people can buy shoes online sitting at a different location far away from my shop even from my city.

So, in the first step, I created a website for users. What should be on the website definitely about the shoes, their prices, product description that explains about shoes and selling shoes?

The website should be properly optimized so that users can get all the required information in a short time and make a purchase if they are intended to.

When a search engine crawls the website, he may find the word shoes or related to word shoes, we call them keywords and the search engine indexes the website on that keyword.

Indexing simply means acceptance of a website by a search engine for certain keywords.

But indexing is not enough, only the shop doesn't matters, the location matters. We call it ranking.

In the offline world, you pay for a location a substantial amount from your pocket. In the online world, you pay for location through backlinks by giving your time and efforts. Ranking simply means search engine considers your website best for its user after referring to other websites through backlinks.

So, this how SEO Works

If you like the way of presenting things, please let me know. if you find discrepancies then please let me know.
