My site is highly ranked for multiple keywords in a specific country that matches the TLD I use. I outrank many of my competitors in this country but when it comes to serp in other countries, my site doesn't appear at all, or at least very very very far from the rankings I have in the main country.
Guesses as to why:
-
My competitors sites are quite a few years older than mine and that might make the domains more authoritative abroad even though mine is ranked higher in our common main country.
-
Some of the competitors (not all) seem to have an alternative subdomain eg. en.website.fr (with the original made canonical) - which I do not have, I only have the main language on my page.
Thoughts? Does my guesses hit the mark or make sense? Anything else that could affect this?
