Is it okay to re-publish content on sites like Medium using the canonical tag?

So, I have got an on-page blog, is it okay if I publish it again after a month on another website like Medium?

There are two situations for this

1. Republishing the exact same content
2. Tweaking & spinning the content a bit & then publishing it on Medium

What do you guys think? Will it affect my website's ranking in any way?
