Similar page content canonicals

Hi all,

Just a quick question on canonical tags.

Say I had a post that said "how to colour in blue" and then a post saying "how to colour in purple" and the only word which changed in the second post was "blue" to "purple" (title, description and page content).

Should I then use the canonical tag to point the purple post towards the blue post?

If so, would I essentially create SERPs for the same topic? I.e. if I search "how to colour in purple", this purple post will show (even if the canonical points to blue)?
