What framework do you use to find your niche?

Hi guys,

Just thought i would lay out the framework i have put in place for niche hunting and see what you guys think. Any suggestions on anything i should avoid spending time on/focus more on, would be amazing to get some feedback!

Here is my first round thought process: 1) Choose a general theme

Come up with sub topics for the general theme (eg, TVs —> Samsung TVs) Look for some long tailed searches within each sub topic (use Answerthepublic to find more) Have a look through terms an authority site is ranking for to see other related terms (using SEMrush) Collect these ideas in a mindmap to visualise better and capture information 2) Monetisation

What are the current ways of monetising the niche? Do the numbers add up? Ie, look at traffic volumes for keywords relating to a sub topic, take into account only a small number will convert into a sale later on, would affiliate revenue bring in enough here? Some intuition and guestimation required here 3) Traffic flows

Find out the volume of traffic flows for important keywords relating to each sub topic Cut out any sub topic that appears to have generally low search volumes 4) Competition

Does it appear to be a saturated niche? Look at the websites ranking for ‘less competitive search terms’, say below 1,000 searches per month. Are you realistically gonna be able to compete with them – check the domain authority for any site you don’t recognise. 5) Value adding – What can you bring to the area to improve it?

Better information? Better website layout?
