I am dipping my toes into this vast ocean that is SEO and I have encountered the concept of "backlinks."
I'm sorry if this is gonna sound like I'm a dumb guy, but what are they exactly?
I know it's a link from external sources that lead back to your site, and that it can be anything, other sites, forums, even social media.
What I don't understand is, how come you can have SO MANY? I read in different articles that you need thousands of backlinks, ideally 100k?? Backlinko alone has over 200k backlinks. How is that possible?
I am currently in the perspective of starting a small niche blog, and I don't know how to get all that. I may think to be able to get idk 10, but that does not seem to be enough apparently.
Also I'd like to point out that I am aware number is not that important but the quality of the backlinks are. But still.
I am ready to commit hours everyday to writing content and providing value to people, and promoting my blog, but this new "factor" kinda gets me a little discouraged.
