Major news outlet covered my blog post but didn't include a link back to it. They corrected it within 4 hours (dofollow as well) but it's too late, Google has cached the original version. Will my site ever get the "link juice" from this backlink or is it now lost?

How does Google treat it if they re-index a news story days later and a link has been added? Does Google even bother to re-index a news story, I'm guessing not so I'm feeling kinda bummed.
