We are launching our new website in October. This new website has a new domain and site structure. It is my understanding that pages will need to be 301 redirected in order to not lose a great deal of the domain authority that we had previously built up over the years. Note: This is a massive website with thousands of pages that are hard to navigate. There is also no existing sitemap. I was just hired to help with digital marketing and I found out that no one had thought of the back end SEO implications of creating a new website.
- Does this mean that ALL pages of the old site need to be redirected to the new site??
- Do only major pages of the website need to be switched (top 50 on GA)?
- Where do I start? What can I start working on while DEV is still building and were writing our content?
I am just a lost SEO noob. I have a pretty good general understanding of things, but I cant seem to get a clear answer about 301s.
