Homepage gets ranked high on different keywords while specific pages about the keyword don't get indexed what now?

Hi, i have been trying to rank higher in google with specific pages about a subject. (perfume testers). But the page with detailed information won't get ranked on google while my homepage gets ranked high on different keywords including perfume testers. Is this because it is not a category page or something else? any help or tips would be appreciated. I am trying to rank higher in google on specific keywords for my ecommerce website
