I'm sure I've read over recent years that widgets aren't the sure fire SEO ticket they were back in the day. I'm talking about things like local weather widgets and the like.
There are a few sites in my niche that offer widgets and they certainly don't seem to be penalised. As I run a few sites that could offer widgets I'd be interested in hearing what the current thinking is.
