"Don't publish too much; you'll spread your domain authority too thin"

This is what a few people have told me recently. But to me, it seems like terrible, backwards advice.

The way I've gained links/authority in the past has been to publish good content, and lots of it.

My site has around 250 articles, and I publish 2-4 new posts per month. So, nothing too crazy in terms of pace.

What are your thoughts?
