Breadcrumbs - last item, link or no link?

What is the best approach for SEO?

Should the current page (last item in the breadcrumbs) have a hyperlink or not? Or should I leave it without a link and just make the text bold? Various sites are doing different things so I'm not sure what the best approach is.
